Oncoplastic Reconstruction

Following a lumpectomy or partial breast excision, discrepancies in size and shape can occur due to the missing tissue within the breast. This may create unwanted “dents” in the breast itself, or even changes in the nipple position, especially as compared to your other normal breast. Oncoplastic reconstruction attempts to either prevent or correct these differences by mobilizing and sculpting the parenchyma of the breast for an improved aesthetic appearance. Frequently, this may also entail a breast reduction or lift (mastopexy) on the other breast to improve overall symmetry and shape.
