Dr. Spear is an expert at complex cosmetic and reconstructive procedures particularly of the breast. He performs a large number of corrections of previously unsatisfactory cosmetic and reconstructive breast and body plastic surgery procedures.

Below are just a few of the procedures Dr. Spear performs.

Facelift (Rhytidectomy):

Loose skin, sagging fat, and stretched facial muscles are the inevitable results of aging, sun damage, or stress.

Today’s facelifts do more than simply reposition slack skin. A facelift can tighten the underlying facial muscles, remove excess fat, and correct other signs of aging. The incisions are generally well hidden under the hair or in natural skin creases. Recent advances in endoscopic surgery and lasers have increased the potential of facelifts even more. Facelifts are truly regenerative operations that allow most patients to appear a decade or two younger than before. The results can be truly exciting and the years gained in youthful appearance last for a lifetime.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty):

Age or heredity can cause drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags around the eyes as well. Eyelid surgery involves removing excess skin and fat from those areas, thus creating a more rested and youthful appearance. The incisions are hidden nicely in the natural creases surrounding the eyes. When the goal is simply to remove fat deposits from below the eye, an incision inside the lower lid leaves no visible scar at all. Blepharoplasty is a highly successful way of dealing with what is, in most patients, one of the earliest visible signs of aging.

Rhinoplasty:

Plastic surgery can create either subtle or dramatic changes in the appearance of the nose. The height, length, shape, size, proportions, and tip of the nose can all be improved. The incisions are usually virtually invisible.

Breast Reconstruction:

A breast that is removed by surgery or damaged by disease can be reconstructed immediately or later. Reconstructive options include reconstruction using your own tissues, and prosthetic reconstruction using saline-filled or silicone gel-filled implants.

The reconstructive process usually takes several progressively smaller steps that culminate in the recreation of a breast with a nipple and areola.

Breast Augmentation:

Breast augmentation allows an increase in a woman’s breast size with a fairly simple procedure using an implant filled with saline or silicone. Other implants are under investigation but not yet available. This procedure remains very popular with patients, and is highly successful. Many of the techniques used in breast augmentation are often similar to those we use in breast reconstruction.

Laser Resurfacing or Laser Peel:

A remarkable new procedure uses a carbon dioxide laser to remove precise amounts of skin to reverse, minimize, or correct fine lines or scars caused by sun damage, acne, or aging. With the laser, treatment is localized and discomfort after the operation is reduced. However, resurfacing the skin does require significant recovery time while new skin gradually replaces the old.

Liposuction:

With liposuction, a thin tube is inserted beneath the skin to vacuum away unwanted fat deposits. Since only a small incision is needed, scarring is minimal and the fat generally does not return. The best candidates are within 30 to 50 pounds of their ideal weight, with good skin tone. Ultrasonic liposuction, liposuction assisted by sound waves, is an exciting new technique that promises to make this procedure more effective, easier, and safer.

Body Contouring:

In addition to shaping or sculpting the body with liposuction, the breasts, abdomen, hips, and thighs can be dramatically reduced or tightened by procedures such as Breast Reduction, Abdominoplasty, or Thigh Lift. With the recent advances in liposuction and body contouring surgery, we have helped many of our patients achieve breathtaking results.

Skin Care:

Modern plastic surgery also includes skin care. For the best results, attention to the skin before and after surgery can be critical. We provide Botox for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles; and also use the most modern injectables including collagen, fat, Hyaluronic acid, and other materials for filling out soft tissue deficiencies of the face.
