Spear, is former Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., which has been ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. and in the top 50 in 13 major specialties by U.S. News & World Report. Board Certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, A collaborator for the Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer and former member of the Breast Cancer Program at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Spear also founded and directed the Washington, D.C. area 6 year integrated training program in plastic surgery.

Dr. Spear completed his medical school training at the University of Chicago, his General Surgery residency at Harvard Medical School, and his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Miami. He has published over 229 papers and chapters, given 103 peer-reviewed presentations, participated in 547 invited lectures, panels, and courses, and authored 3 editions of the seminal textbook, Surgery of the Breast: Principles and Art. He has also testified as an expert regarding breast implants before both The U.S. Congress and the Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Spear has recently served on the boards of The Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, The American Society of Plastic urgeons and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
